My Goals for 2023

As 2023 gets underway, it is time once more for me to evaluate my goals for the coming year. 2022 saw the release of my books The Ascension Legacy - Book 3: A Hidden King Found and The Ascension Legacy - Book 4: A Fallen Hero. Keeping that my original goal was to release 1 book every year until all 6 books of my Ascension Legacy series was published. 

It should go without saying that one of my goals for 2023 is to see at least The Ascension Legacy - Book 5: Conquest and Conflict released. Ideally, I would like to see that and the final book, The Ascension Legacy - Book 6: The King Revealed, also released. The first step though to move from draft to published is go through editing. I've already reached out to my preferred editor, Christine from CleverEditors.com, to start the process but that can take months to complete depending on Christine's schedule. Based on our preliminary discussions, I think Book 5 might be ready for release in July or August.

While I wouldn't mind releasing Book 6 in this calendar year, if Book 5 doesn't drop until July or August then I'm not sure Book 6 will be ready in time. There are several things that have to be done after editing is finished before a book can be considered complete. There's artwork to be done, formatting, ISBN registrations, eBook conversions, test prints, and more that all take time and money. 2023 will focus on Book 5 and when that book is done, and only then, I will turn my attention to Book 6's release. If Book 6 hits in 2023 then that's great but if the timing puts its release in 2024 then I won't be too upset.

Book 5's release is my goal for 2023. Book 6's release is not so much a goal as it would be a bonus.

In terms of writing, my goal for 2023 is to finish at least 1 of my unfinished books. I have a spin-off for my Ascension Legacy series that is the closest to completion. I think my main writing goal for 2023 would be to finish that book. I have other finished books that are pending release outside of The Ascension Legacy series that I will focus on releasing once these last 2 books of the series are released. That should give me time to polish my spin-off story.

If all goes well, I'll be able to finish my spin-off story and focus on what I want to be my next completed story, the adventures of CIA spy Colt Magnum!
